Tunnel Management Systems
Control of field equipment is carried out through microprocessor-based devices known as PLC in modern tunnel management systems. While the control of the field side is made by PLC in general, SCADA – the visual data collection and control interface; constitutes the side of the system serving the operator.
Reliability, durability of the system is very important for the system installed for management of the tunnels. Systems such as lighting, ventilation, fire detection and extinguishing, camera, SOS, traffic, energy, communication network, for which projects are designed by taking into consideration the size of the tunnel and volume of vehicles passing, are established with the aim of uninterrupted operation of the tunnel. The energy system for tunnel is mandatory for operation of other systems. The UPS and the generator in the system step in for prospective energy failures and in this manner, the tunnel is never effected from failures in the network. All systems in the tunnel are monitored remotely and controls are carried out when necessary through the PLC and SCADA system that play an active role in operation of the tunnel.
Failures and breakdowns have also been taken into consideration for the design of tunnel automations developed by ISBAK and the principle of taking all kinds of technological measures has been adopted to prevent interruptions of the tunnel process to be caused by such problems.
